The Rested Woman
· after Proverbs 31
A woman of rested spirit
who can find?
She is worth far more
than cups of coffee.
Her inner circle has full confidence
in her empathy and lacks no want
of her altruistic spirit.
She brings them kind words
and encouraging phone calls
from a place of overflow, not emptiness.
She selects relationships and opportunities
with careful thought and intuition
She is like the honeybee
spreading her nectar of niceness far.
She sleeps until the sun
illuminates her room.
She prepares meals with care
for her family and gift
baskets for her friends.
She considers a new opportunity
and prays on it.
Out of her earnings she plants
a vegetable garden.
She sets about her work energized
her mind is clear for the thinking.
She sees that her planting
is fruitful.
At night her lamp goes out.
In her thoughts she holds
truth
and turns it into stories
with her fingers.
She finds ways to feed the poor
uses her talents to teach the needy.
When ice storms strike, she has
no fear for her home,
they are prepared with quilts
and firewood and freezers of food.
She makes quilts for her bed and
is clothed in garments that
reflect her individuality.
Her crew is respected
in whatever city you find them
where they heal and teach and legislate.
She makes lesson plans and teaches them
she supplies schools with enrichment
programs.
She is clothed in confident calm
she can smile at the days to come.
She speaks with assertiveness, kindly seasoned
words are on her tongue.
She keeps an eye on her affairs
while prioritizing rest.
The children she's loved praise her with thanks
Her family calls her a gift.
Many women do too much, but not you
Time is fleeting and having it all is a myth
but a woman who rests in God's rhythm is balanced.
Give her the space she needs for prayer and meditation
and your life will be blessed.
